Use case
Use this free letter, word, paragraph, and sentence counter when you need a quick length check before publishing a blog post, product page, essay, or social caption. - Trim or expand copy when average sentence length looks too short or too long.
- Count characters for forms, bios, and other space-limited fields.
How this app works
Type or paste text into the box. Counts update live in your browser:
- Letters β Unicode letter characters (spaces, digits, and punctuation are excluded).
- Words β whitespace-separated tokens after trimming.
- Paragraphs β blocks separated by blank lines (consecutive newlines).
- Sentences β segments ending with
.,!, or?. - Characters β total length of the text including spaces.
The SEO checklist shows Pass only when every rule below is met:
- Text is not empty.
- At least 300 words.
- At least 1 paragraph.
- Average sentence length between 10 and 25 words (inclusive).
If any check fails, the overall status is Fail and each rule shows why. Empty input shows βββ / not ready. This SEO Pass indicator is a drafting heuristic only β it does not guarantee search rankings or replace a full SEO audit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does SEO Pass mean?
It means your text meets this toolβs simple checks: not empty, 300+ words, at least one paragraph, and average sentence length between 10 and 25 words. It is not a guarantee from Google or any search engine.
How are words counted?
Words are split on whitespace after trimming. Hyphenated terms count as one word unless separated by spaces.
How are paragraphs detected?
Paragraphs are blocks separated by a blank line (one or more newlines with optional spaces). A single block of text with no blank line counts as one paragraph.
Why did my average sentence length fail?
Very short sentences (under 10 words on average) or very long ones (over 25) fail that check. Aim for clearer, mid-length sentences while you edit.
Is this counter free?
Yes. You can use it as often as you like at no cost.
Is my text stored?
No. Analysis runs in your browser. See Privacy Information below.
