How this app works

The editor has two side-by-side panes that stay bidirectional:

• Markdown (left) — type or load Markdown source. Toolbar buttons insert headings, bold, italic, code, links, lists, and quotes. Changes render as rich text on the right.
• Rich text (right) — a WYSIWYG editor with formatting tools. Edits and rich paste are converted to Markdown and update the left pane.
• Open .md — choose a .md, .markdown, or .txt file from your device; contents load into the Markdown pane and sync to rich text.
• Paste to Markdown — paste formatted HTML (bold, headings, lists, links) into the rich-text pane. The app converts that HTML to Markdown automatically. Oversized font sizes may map to headings when reasonable; arbitrary pixel sizes are not preserved because Markdown has no native font-size syntax.
• Copy / Download — copy the Markdown to your clipboard or download document.md. Clear wipes both panes.

Conversion and editing run entirely in your browser. Nothing from the editors is uploaded to Web4pps servers for storage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I paste from Microsoft Word or Google Docs?
Yes. Paste into the rich-text pane on the right. Formatting such as bold, italics, headings, lists, and links is converted to Markdown on the left. Results can vary slightly depending on how the source app exposes HTML on the clipboard.

Why did my font sizes change or disappear?
Markdown does not support arbitrary font sizes. Large sizes may become headings (H1–H3); other pixel sizes are normalized away while structure and emphasis are kept when possible.

Which file types can I open?
Prefer .md or .markdown. Plain .txt files are also accepted and treated as Markdown source.

Does editing one pane always update the other?
Yes. Markdown updates render as rich text, and rich-text edits (including paste) update the Markdown source after a short debounce so typing stays smooth.

Is this editor free?

The MD File Editor runs entirely in your browser. Files you open and text you type or paste are used only on your device to sync Markdown and rich text, copy, or download. Web4pps does not require an account for this tool, and editor contents are not sent to our servers for storage. Clear the editors or close the tab when you are finished if you do not want the content to remain in the page session.
