Disclaimer

This Free QR Code Generator is provided for general information and convenience. QR codes are generated in your browser from the information you enter. Web4pps does not verify the websites, phone numbers, Wi-Fi networks, contacts, or other content you encode, and does not guarantee that every scanner, camera app, or printer will read every custom design.

Always test a QR code on more than one device before you print it, publish it, or share a Wi-Fi or contact code. Do not encode secrets you would not want a person with a camera to read. Web4pps is not responsible for mistyped URLs, incorrect network details, or third-party scanning software.

How to Use Free QR Code Generator

Follow these steps to create and download a QR code for free:

  • Choose a QR code type: URL, Text, Wi-Fi, Email, Phone, SMS, Contact, or Location.
  • Enter your information: for example a website, a Wi-Fi network name and password, or a phone number. The tool validates the fields for that type.
  • Customize your QR code: optional colors, size, quiet-zone margin, and error correction. Keep a dark foreground on a light background for reliable scanning.
  • Generate your QR code: click Generate QR Code, or press Enter in an input field. A preview appears when the content is valid.
  • Download it for free: Download PNG for screens and everyday sharing, or Download SVG for print. You can also copy the encoded content. Press Escape or Reset to start over.

Your QR code is generated directly in your browser. Your data stays on your device. No account is required.

Is This QR Generator Free?

Yes. You can create and download QR codes without creating an account. There is no watermark on the PNG or SVG files, and downloads are not locked behind a paywall.

Is My Data Uploaded?

QR generation occurs in the browser. The URL, text, Wi-Fi password, contact fields, and other payload content do not need to be uploaded to generate or download a code. Optional appearance preferences can be stored in localStorage on this device. See Privacy Information below for details.

Supported QR Codes

The generator creates static QR codes. The information is stored in the code itself, so you do not need a backend or subscription to keep the code working.

  • URL / website: encode a web address. Useful for menus, business cards, packaging, and social profiles.
  • Plain text: encode a short message or instructions. Longer text makes a denser pattern.
  • Email: a mailto: payload with optional subject and message.
  • Phone: a tel: payload that can start a call.
  • SMS: an SMSTO payload with a number and optional message.
  • Wi-Fi: a WIFI: payload with SSID, password, security type, and hidden network flag. Special characters in the network name and password are escaped.
  • Contact / vCard: name, organization, job title, phone, email, website, and address in a vCard 3.0 payload.
  • Location: a geo: payload from latitude and longitude, or a Google Maps URL when coordinates can be read from the link.

Static vs Dynamic QR Codes

A static QR code contains the information directly, such as https://example.com. Advantages include no backend, no subscription, no expiration caused by this generator, and a privacy-friendly workflow. The encoded information cannot be changed later without creating a new QR code.

A dynamic QR code usually points to a URL controlled by a service so the destination can be changed or tracked. That requires infrastructure and often a subscription. This project focuses on static QR codes generated on your device.

PNG vs SVG

PNG is a lossless raster image. It is a good default for web pages, social posts, and sharing a file. SVG is a vector file. It stays sharp at any size and is the better choice for printing, business cards, posters, flyers, and large signs.

QR Code Scanning Tips

  • Maintain enough contrast: dark modules on a light background.
  • Keep the quiet zone. Do not crop the margin away completely.
  • Avoid overly dense payloads. Shorten long text when phones fail to scan.
  • Test on an iPhone camera, an Android camera, and another scanner before printing.
  • Custom colors are allowed, but low-contrast or inverted codes are less reliable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the QR code generator free?
Yes. You can create and download QR codes without creating an account. PNG and SVG downloads are included at no cost.

Do I need to register?
No. The generator works in your browser without registration or a login.

Do you store my QR code?
The generator does not need a server to create QR codes. Optional customization preferences such as colors, size, margin, and error correction can be saved locally in your browser. Wi-Fi passwords, contact details, and messages are not saved automatically.

Can I download my QR code?
Yes. Download a PNG for everyday use or an SVG for print, posters, business cards, and large signs.

Can I create a Wi-Fi QR code?
Yes. Enter the network name, password, security type, and whether the network is hidden. Scanning the code can connect a phone to the network without typing the password.

Can I create a QR code for a website?
Yes. Choose URL and enter a website such as example.com or https://www.example.com. If you omit the protocol, https:// is added automatically.

Can I create a QR code for a phone number?
Yes. Choose Phone to generate a tel: code, or SMS to generate a text-message payload with an optional message.

Can I customize the QR code?
Yes. You can change foreground and background colors, size, quiet-zone margin, and error correction. The tool warns you when colors or a missing quiet zone may reduce scan reliability.

Will the QR code expire?
A static QR code itself does not have an expiration date. If it contains a URL, it only works while that website remains available. Changing the destination later requires generating a new code.

Does a QR code require an internet connection?
Generation can continue after the page has loaded. Scanning a QR code may require internet access depending on what it contains, such as a website URL.
